Deep Tine Poke

Today and tomorrow we are completing the final deep tine aeration of the year on the greens.  The hole is a quarter inch in diameter and around 8" deep.  I do this just before the winter rains to help get the water through the green profile.  In conjunction, we will be applying sand and some potassium fertilizer.  The potassium will help strengthen the plant throughout the cold winter.  That thought is debatable among the turf community, but I tend to believe that it holds true for us.

I did play during and after the aeration and the green speeds were really fast.  Enjoy.
